Free DNS Propagation Checker

Instantly check whether your DNS changes have taken effect. Each check asks four public DNS resolvers โ€” Google, Cloudflare, DNS.SB and AliDNS โ€” live, and shows you each answer side by side.

A AAAA CNAME MX NS TXT SOA

How this works: your browser sends the lookup straight to four public DNS resolvers โ€” Google, Cloudflare, DNS.SB and AliDNS โ€” over encrypted DNS-over-HTTPS, all at the same time, and we show each one's answer. They're large networks with servers worldwide; we don't query from specific cities or ISPs. Nothing you type is sent to or stored by DNSChecker.ca.

What is DNS Propagation?

DNS propagation is the time it takes for DNS changes to spread across all DNS servers worldwide. When you update your domain records, those changes don't appear instantly everywhere.

How long does it take?

Typically 24โ€“72 hours, though many changes propagate within minutes. Your TTL value controls how long old records are cached.

Flush DNS โ€” Windows

ipconfig /flushdns

Flush DNS โ€” Mac

sudo dscacheutil -flushcache

Frequently Asked Questions

Why do I still see my old IP address?

Some DNS resolvers are still caching your old record. They'll update once the TTL (time to live) expires. To compare several public resolvers at once, use our DNS Propagation Checker.

Is DNSChecker.ca free?

100% free. No account needed. Check unlimited domains anytime.

How accurate are the results?

Each check queries four public resolvers live โ€” Google Public DNS, Cloudflare, DNS.SB and AliDNS (Alibaba) โ€” over DNS-over-HTTPS, and shows exactly what each one returns right now. If they disagree, some are still serving a cached copy of the old record until its TTL runs out. Your own ISP's resolver isn't one of the four, so your network can still show an older answer for a while.
